I met wonderful people. From the bottom of my heart: thank you!
At first I thought: can I really do this? In the end, talking with seniors was the best part of the trip.
After this trip I felt 20 years younger! Wonderful to be able to connect with this younger group!
This citytrip is part of civic service (MDT). You'll connect with seniors who enjoy being around people and learn to socialise outside your own bubble. Afterwards, you'll receive an MDT certificate. Around 15 seniors and 35 young people join this trip.
Please note: you're not a care companion, but during this trip you do commit to supporting the seniors. Your task is to make sure they feel comfortable and have a good time. You can be held accountable if you don't contribute enough to the mission of this trip.
Most of the cost is covered for you. We only ask for a personal contribution.
Included is:
Bring your own spending money for lunch (every day) and dinner (2nd and 3rd day). You're free to choose where you eat.
The kick-off, introduction, activities during the trip, evaluation, reunion day and a meet-up with a senior are mandatory. During the trip you document your experience in writing or images.
Around 10–15 seniors aged 60+ join this trip. You're still active, able to go away for a weekend without help, and curious about conversations with young people. One or two care companions and Careibu staff also join the trip.
The young people joining are sociable and eager to make a difference for someone else. This trip is a success when young and old truly connect. That's why we count on your interest in the other group and your willingness to join the activities that the trip organising team has put together especially for you.
For seniors, we don't receive a contribution from MDT. Careibu covers part of the trip on your behalf.
Included is:

The programme
This trip is only possible because young people make an impact. It's important that you attend all mandatory activities and engage actively.
We'll discuss the programme, get to know each other, and talk about how you connect with another age group. There's also room for all your questions.

Please let us know in advance if you know someone. Careibu makes the final decision on whether a spot is still available.
This trip is specifically designed to connect two generations: young people (18–30 years) and seniors (60 and over). That's why only people aged 60 and over can sign up as a senior. Young people are recruited separately and take part as companions or fellow travellers.
