Citytrip with young and old
During our special trips we bring young and old together. You discover a new city, make wonderful memories, and you make it possible for older adults to have an unforgettable experience too.
About this project
- Careibu pays for the coach travel, hotel, breakfast and great excursions
- Young people and seniors socialise outside their bubble and learn from each other
- Together you discover a new city and create unique memories
Background information
In 2025 we travelled together to Paris and Bruges. More beautiful destinations are planned for 2026. During these trips we focus on connection between young and old. We put together a programme in which the two generations easily get in touch with each other.
On each trip around 10-20 seniors join who would love to connect with young people. There are currently no new trips scheduled; sign up via the interest list and be the first to hear when a new citytrip is on the agenda.

Good to know
Why can I only sign up if I’m between 18 and 30?
Because this project is part of civic service (MDT — "Maatschappelijke Diensttijd"). This programme is specifically intended for young people aged 18 to 30.
What should I bring on a citytrip?
Money or a debit card for lunch, dinner and personal expenses, a valid ID card or passport, comfortable shoes, phone with charger and personal belongings.
I’ve signed up, am I automatically selected now?
Not immediately. After signing up you’ll hear by email whether you’ve been selected. We select, among other things, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Why is an introductory conversation planned?
We think it’s important that everyone gets to know each other a little before travelling together. During the conversation we check your motivation and you can ask your questions.
Do you know a senior who’d like to join?
You’re always welcome to suggest a senior who would like to join. We invite people aged 65+ who are still active and can manage a weekend away without help. Careibu makes the final decision on whether there’s still room.
