Duo of the month: Mr Van Steijn (90) and Isabelle (23)

Mr Van Steijn (90) won a competition: come up with the best request and win three free hours with a SeniorenStudent buddy. He wanted to visit the Mauritshuis with an art student.

And so it happened: Isabelle (23) came over, admired his collection, showed him her portfolio, and together they went to the Mauritshuis.

Van Steijn studied at art academy in the 1940s — a special period during the war years. "It was such a different time."

All his models were women, he says with a laugh, as Isabelle flips through his drawings.
