4 exciting Museums for Children in Berlin

The long night of museums in Berlin is coming up. Are museums boring for children? Definitely not! There are many museums in Berlin that are both fun and educational for children. We made a list of museums worth visiting with children, and highlighted events during the Long Night of Museums that might be worthwhile to attend.  

 

Museum of Natural History

Stuffed tigers, meteorites from the moon, or the biggest Dinosaur Skeleton in the world: There is much to see and discover in the ‘Museum für Naturkunde‘. During the holidays there are daily guided tours for families and the first Sunday of the month is specially reserved for kids. Or maybe you dare to do the flashlight tour at night?

MACHmit! Museum for children

The MACHmit! Museum for children is situated in an altered church in the neighborhood of Prenzlauer Berg. There are exhibitions where children can discover, try, and learn through play. The exhibition ‘Der weite Horizont – Indianische Kulturen & die Kunst des Kennenlernens’ will be there till June 2019. The giant climbing structure at the museum shows this emphasis on learning through play, and means that kids won’t get bored!

German Museum of Technology

Interested in trains, airplanes, or ships? Than you should visit the Museum of Technology in Berlin. There are guided tours for children and families on the weekends. If you want, you can register for a workshop on paper-making in the paper workplace of the museum. With the same ticket you can visit the Science Lab as well.

Labyrinth Children’s Museum Berlin

Just like the MACHmit! Museum, children can discover and learn through play at the Labyrinth Kindermuseum. The current exhibitions ‘1,2,3 Kultummel’ gives kids ages 3-11 a glimpse into the diversity of the world. From crafts to dressing up, to climbing around, there is so much to do for children in the 1000 square meter hall of the museum.

Of course, many other museums in Berlin are worth visiting with children. For example, the Klingende Museum gives kids the opportunity to make music and there are regular puppet shows in the Puppentheater-museum.
